Paul Hollywood at Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2012

Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2012

Hollywood is coming... Hollywood is coming... (to be sung in the Coca Cola Christmas style for full effect)

Yes ladies and gentlemen! My friends at Bolton Market and the Albert Halls inform me that Britain's favourite artisan bread boss is coming to Bolton as part of Bolton's Food and Drink Festival 2012. You'll know by now that I'm a huge fan of both Mr Hollywood and a spot of fine dining. Fancy popping the two together for the evening? Here's your chance.

On 24th August the Great British Bake Off judge will host a six course gala dinner at our very own Albert Halls Bolton. Paul will be delivering an after dinner speech the evening before he and fellow judge Mary Berry take to the stage to do some cookery demonstrations.
Paul Hollywood said: "I'm thrilled to be a part of Bolton's Food and Drink Festival, and the gala dinner will whet people's appetite for the weekend ahead. It's great to give people the opportunity to sample some locally sourced produce and taste the accompanying wines in such fabulous surroundings. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing just how passionate they are about food!"

The gala dinner will consist of a six course tasting menu, which will be accompanied by fine wines selected by Gerrard Seel Wine Merchants of Cheshire introduced by your sommelier. The dinner, including wine pairings costs just £45 per person. There are only a limited number available due to the fairly intimate nature of the event, so book soon!

I've got a bit of inside information from the organisers, who have told me that the food includes a pressed meat terrine, pan fried red mullet, glazed duck breast and breads from Paul's Artisan Bread Company (they sell to Harrods no less!)

The dessert will be the winner of a competition held at Bolton College, where catering students have bid to create a dish to follow the meal.
The Principal of Bolton College, Marie Gilluley commented "We have over 800 catering students here at Bolton College and we're really excited about having the opportunity to provide dessert at the gala dinner. It's an excellent way to kick off the Food and Drink Festival, and we're sure the students will be able to provide a final course that's just as delicious as Paul Hollywood's creations!"

I am also ridiculously excited that my hero, Mary Berry is coming to town! She's the one who started it all. My love of baking stemmed from her programme 'Mary Berry's Ultimate Cakes' all those years ago...

There's a jam packed line up of events going on over August Bank Holiday weekend, so book your tickets now before they all go! Don't say I didn't warn you...
