As well as a host of celebrity chefs coming to Bolton, lots of local businesses have also got involved for Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2012. There are a range of deals to be had across the borough leading up to and during the festival. There are some brilliant events, including 1940s themed fish and chips, a Bollywood night, food history, worldwide cuisine and even a corned beef hash competition!
A little bird also told me that there is going to be a new addition to this year's festival in the form of an open air dining area on the South side of Victoria Square, with vendors selling ever-popular street food. It will include:
- Harvey Nichols’ Gastronomique van selling French cuisine
- Ginger’s Comfort Emporium selling unique flavoured ice cream
- Jerk Junction selling traditional Jamaican food
- Bolton’s Spice Valley selling Indian dishes
- Macaroon by Alison Seagrave selling delicious cakes
- The Hungry Gecko, Asian street food by Masterchef 2011 finalist Jackie Kearney
Claire Kelsey of Ginger’s Comfort Emporium
“I'm really excited to be taking part in the Bolton Food and Drink Festival this year. It's a great opportunity, showcasing some of the best street food in the country, and it's close to home too. My menu includes dishes inspired by street food from India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.”
Hungry Gecko boss Jackie Kearney
Bolton Museum and Central Library
Viva Espana
There's also a second food court on Deansgate selling Indian, Hungarian, Polish and Italian cuisine.
The massively popular beer keller is also returning! Other stalls include cakes, artisan bread, home made preserves, hand crafted chocolates, Turkish treats, rustic pies and fudge. I cannot actually wait!
