Hotel Chocolat Review

Hotel Chocolat
This week I got sent a lovely box of chocs from Hotel Chocolat. The catch? They just wanted me to try them and report back! What lovely people they are. I had promised my friends at work that I would take them in for a little sampling session - calling it this made us feel a little less greedy...

I received the 'Everything Selection' box, which is a bit of a mixture of their whole collection. After a bit of a bad start to the morning, I was already on the Eton Mess one at 8:15am. This was a wonderful example of confectionary. It was a white chocolate cup filled with raspberry praline and tiny pieces of meringue, topped with more white chocolate. Sheer brilliance. When things hadn't improved by 8:30am, I popped the Billionaire's Shortbread. Another little piece of happiness. I shared my misdemeanour, and a chocolate with Beth - and I quote, 'f*@%ing amazing!' I then hid the box under a pile of work. Out of sight...

Not long later, my friend Sally appeared. Face like thunder, I offered her a chocolate... One Simple Milk Truffle and gasps of 'ooh it's trufflicious' later, it was a goner. Pauline was next, and another three disappeared. By about 9:30am the contents of the box had completely vanished, and there were claims of 'bigger girls' coming in and stealing them.

These chocolates are utterly delightful. One word of warning though. They are very intense, and their true force only hits you after about twenty minutes. Therefore, if you were considering eating four in a row - don't! Pauline had to go and lie in a dusty cupboard in the dark after medicating with a packet of crisps and two Rennies, and I had to counteract the sugar with a yoghurt. They are potent! Don't be greedy...

The box includes: Cherry Deluxe, Eton Mess, Salted Caramel & Praline, Praline Crisp, Shortbread Cookie Caramel, Going Nuts, Orange Praline, Pecan Brownie, Billionaire's Shortbread, Soft Caramel, Dizzy Praline, Simple Milk Truffle, Liquorice Caramel, Hazelnut Melt. This box is £12.

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review, but did receive the chocolates free of charge. All opinions are my own and bigger girls definitely stole at least half.
