Review - NutriBullet 900 Series

JD Williams
NutriBullet 900 Series
I get asked to review all sorts of things, some fantastic, some just down right bizarre (you know who you are...), so I try to stick to things that I would genuinely use and buy. When I was approached to review one of the small kitchen appliances from JD Williams, there was only one thing I wanted to test... the new NutriBullet 900 series!

My original model is a few years old now, well utilised, and a bit clunky. I use it most days to make a protein smoothie for breakfast, so it's been well loved. Then I saw the new, shiny 900 series, which is 50% more powerful than its old mate.

The new NutriBullet 900 series includes:
  • 1 x High torque power base
  • 1 x Extractor blade
  • 1 x Oversized cup (909ml)
  • 1 x Tall cup (680ml)
  • 1 x Handled comfort lip ring
  • 1 x flip-top lid
  • 1 x Stay-fresh lid
  • 1 x User manual with recipes
  • 1 x Pocket nutritionist
Weight: 5.26kg.
Cup capacity: oversized cup – 909ml, tall cup – 680ml.
H.41.5 x W.20 x L.35.5cm.

I love the fact this one comes with a bigger capacity cup, which is ideal for making alternative (ahem) 'products' such as cocktails for two! They're not just for healthy stuff you know. I use mine for a whole manner of things as it's essentially a food processor. They are also perfect for making a smooth soup, or ragù made from roasted veggies, and are perfect for the kind of cake alchemy I get up to, where my hair-brained recipes call for blitzed chocolate bars or biscuits.

However, I thought I would put it through its paces with something that would test the power of that new motor. This morning I literally swapped old for new, to see how it performed. I made a breakfast protein smoothie, which includes a fair bit of ice. This is where most blenders seem to fall down, because there isn't enough power to crush it. In all fairness, the original NutriBullet can do this, it just takes a few minutes.

Good god this is fast! The entire contents of the cup were obliterated in under a minute, which is ideal when you're doing this at 7am and need to be considerate of your neighbours, and get out of the house ASAP.

Fancy making your own breakfast smoothie? Give this a go...

Berry Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 130ml skimmed milk
  • 60g of your favourite fruit (I tend to use strawberries, raspberries or blueberries, but others work just as well)
  • 100g Greek yoghurt
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 20g cashew nuts
  • Handful of ice

Literally pop it all in the NutriBullet and whizz it up until smooth!

I love this machine, and would (as always) highly recommend all NutriBullet products. I wouldn't be without mine.
