A few weeks ago we nipped into Marble Beers in Manchester so my husband could sample their Earl Grey IPA. As we walked through the door we saw their fantastic meat and cheese board combinations on their huge blackboard. Sold!
I'm not a beer drinker myself, so opted for strawberry juice - best thing EVER! I need to source this, or move into Marble. Whichever is easiest.
Considering their food is secondary to their beer, they are doing a mighty fine job! They are keeping it simple, but doing it very well indeed. My husband had a cheese and ham toastie with onion relish and I had the ploughman's.I have to admit I got a bit over faced by the selection and panicked! Not that it mattered, as this is the finest example of a ploughman's platter I have seen since the Clog and Billycock in its heyday. Thick cut ham with soft bread, artisan pork pies, balsamic pickles, Lancashire cheese, piccalilly and a good wedge of farmhouse butter. I could eat a full jar of those pickles...
This is a great little place to nip in on a weekend afternoon; have a beer, some meat, cheese and bread, and watch the world go by. I like it here.
